Andrews & Dunham knows that nothing beats a perfect cup of tea! We love the romance of tea, and we love that tea might be the healthiest thing you’ll ever drink, but if the tea you’re drinking doesn’t taste fantastic you’re missing out. Only a few teas meet our mysterious, rigorous standards and we’re proud to offer them to you. We’re always looking for that perfect cup, so you don’t have to.
WTF?
We started this Damn Fine Tea company because we’re obsessed with tea. It’s something we both agree on: it tastes great, it makes you feel good, it’s good for you, and it’s even legal. Better yet, there’s more and more of the stuff available today and much of it is of a very high quality.
If you want a little guidance, an informed opinion perhaps, where do you turn? To obsessive freaks, of course. Everybody knows we’re nuts about tea so we’re always being asked for our recommendations. We thought, why not share some of our love of tea with the public? Why keep all this knowledge penned up among our friends when we could start a risky entrepreneurial venture in a down economy and share it with everyone? Why, there was hardly any decision to be made!
We drink a lot of tea — we’re always on the lookout for the good stuff and our goal is to bring you the teas we really love. We do this in limited quantities, one edition at a time, so you won’t find a huge assortment of teas here. Instead, you’ll find a few carefully chosen teas that we hope you’ll love as much as we do.
About our teas
All of our teas are sold loose, which means they are not in tea bags. Unless you like chewing on wet tea leaves (hey, some people do) you will need a tea straining device to prepare our tea. Our teas are produced using orthodox methods. People chuckle when they hear “orthodox tea” for the first time but what it means is that the leaves were picked and processed using traditional methods. A majority of the world’s tea production is a big, messy, industrialized affair, but the teas we’re interested in are still being processed mostly by hand.
Each tin is decorated with a certified 100% awesome label. We produce a very limited quantity of each series before we get excited and move on to other teas, so get them while you can!
About our damn fine designers
We’re proud to be partners in this venture with our friends at Aesthetic Apparatus. The labels on each tin of Damn Fine Tea were lovingly created by Dan, Michael, and Jonathan at their studio in Minneapolis. They’ve helped us with the design of every last aspect of our business. In fact, I’m typing this on a keyboard they made out of materials salvaged from the Soviet space program. Jonathan hand-carved each key. If you haven’t already, we recommend you cover every surface in your home with their artwork. We did.
